"... the website loads in a special browser built into the app, rather than your phone’s default browser. In 2022, privacy researcher Felix Krause found that Meta injects special β€œkeylogging” JavaScript onto the website you’re visiting that allows the company to monitor everything you type and tap on, including passwords. Other apps including TikTok do the same thing."

What the hell?? This is so creepy.

Meet β€˜Link History,’ Facebook’s New Way to Track the Websites You Visit

Facebook introduces a confusing new setting as the walls close in on Zuckerberg’s data machine.

@kissane is correct, as usual, but I hadn't realized that Adam Mosseri, now running Threads, was head of Facebook’s News Feed and Interfaces departments in the runup the the Rohingya massacres. So, yeah, one of the Facebook executives most responsible for a genocide was rewarded for his service with leadership of Instagram and now Threads.

Fucking hell.

If you use dropbox--they've opted everyone INTO third party AI tools. Go into your settings and turn it off.

A few years ago, I got a tip that seemed too outrageous to be true: A mysterious company called Clearview AI claimed it had scraped billions of photos from the public web to identify just about anyone based only on a snapshot of their face.

It led me on a fascinating reporting journey and to my book, YOUR FACE BELONGS TO US, coming out in 3 weeks! One big question is whether the average person is ready for a world in which anonymity ceases to exist.

This is a good example of what AI systems like ChatGPT excel atβ€”giving managers and administrators the ability to automate top-down, controversial and harmful decision-making while shielding themselves from accountability. They're a sort of authoritarianism accelerator

β€˜A TRIP TO BOLGATANGA’: BONJO IYABINGHI NOAH ON AFRICAN HEAD CHARGE’S FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 12 YEARS https://dangerousminds.net/comments/a_trip_to_bolgatanga_bonjo_iyabinghi_noah_on_african_head_charges_new_album

β€˜A Trip to Bolgatanga’: Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah on African Head Charge’s first new album in 12 years

Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah (courtesy of On-U Sound) Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah and Adrian Sherwood inaugurated the daring studio project African Head Charge in 1981 with My Life In A Hole In The Ground. Both in the studio and in live performance, African Head Charge has burned up the intervening decades exploring unknown Mystery Spots of sonic experience, transmitting dub sonar signals in every dimension where sound travels. A Trip to Bolgatanga, the band’s first LP in twelve years, may be the most sublime entry in the African Head Charge catalog. I recently spoke with Bonjo about Africa, drumming, his youth as a runaway Rasta, and much else. An edited transcript follows. First of all, my condolences on Mark Stewart’s death. He was a person I liked very much. That is a very big loss for not just me, but for all On-U Sound. You played with him throughout his career, right? Yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah! I was a part of the original Maffia, the band, yes. I was a part of it, the original one, before Skip [McDonald] and all that, yes. So I knew him very well. Did you meet him through Adrian? Yes, I got to know him...
