Scientist turned lawyer. Always learning. Family man. Pro-democracy. Agnostic.

As Southwest CEO Bob Jordan pretends to apologize—remember—SW got a $7B federal bailout, spent $5.6B of that on Stock Buybacks, gave their CEO a raise to $9.1M, & forced frontline workers into 16 hour shifts under threat of termination—while spending $0 updating SW software😳

Southwest’s debacle isn’t an accident. It’s the predictable result of billionaire & corporate corruption & greed—& thousands of workers & travelers are paying the price.

In a just world SW execs will face criminal charges.

The older I get, the more aware I am that being critical rather than enjoying things is not a sign of intelligence or wisdom. Not loving things - movies, art, music, people, situations - because of their weaknesses doesn't make you better than them, it means you're unable to see past imperfections. Sure, some things absolutely are bad & should be left behind - but being hypercritical denies you joy. I need reminded of this every day. Too many things are legit bad to throw out good ones too.
@ncweaver @Donkey_Kong I have yet to see a legal use case for bitcoin and blockchain that couldn't be handled by a prepaid debit card and a secure excel spreadsheet.

I'm old enough to remember that respecting and defending the Constitution was the most basic expectation of every citizen, let alone someone running for president. Even after everything we've been through, the idea that Republicans will stick with a man who flagrantly demands the Constitution be discarded to install him into office: Infuriating.
The Hubble Ultra Deep Field is a patient stare into a tiny patch of sky in the constellation Fornax. Over 11 days of exposure revealed 10,000 galaxies, including some of the oldest known.

Almost every dot, smudge, and whorl of light in the image is a galaxy. (There are a few stars in there – you can spot them by their diffraction spikes.) The deepest red ones are galaxies that probably formed when the Universe was less than a billion years old.
