Professor of general psychology at the University of Bergen. I have a wide array of research interests, but mostly centered around applied #decisionmaking. I'm a lapsed clinician and neuroscientist. I also serve as the graduate program director for the #UiB master in psychology. I teach psychological perspectives, #humanfactors and #openscience.

I may occasionally toot in Norwegian, you can filter these out in your language settings (https://<YOUR_INSTANCE_HERE>/settings/preferences/other).

2/2 Our brilliant PhD candidate Floris van den Oever (@OeverFloris) has first-authored a systematic review of this literature: While the technology has promise, it often lacks robust evaluation methods, grounding in human factors, and should be developed from proof-of-concept to implementation.

The review is #OpenAccess published at International Journal of Human–Computer Interaction https://tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/10447318.2023.2209838 #AR #AugmentedReality #HumanFactors #HCI #maritime #SystematicReview

It has been suggested that #AugmentedReality (AR) could be of benefit for #MaritimeWork. But it's unclear which aspect of the social and cognitive tasks it could improve, or whether the technology is sufficiently mature. 1/2

Here is an overview of 14 surveys on how often researchers self-admit to have engaged in research practices that lead to incorrect statistical inferences. One reason for this behavior was norms 'this is how we do it' over logic 'is this correct?'. From https://lakens.github.io/statistical_inferences/15-researchintegrity.html#sec-QRP

This open educational resource contains information to improve statistical inferences, design better experiments, and report scientific research more transparently.

The next time you feel imposter syndrome and are convinced that everyone is better than you, just remember that someone got paid for this hospital design.
An advantage of having written the Wikipedia page for a topic is that when someone asks me about that topic, now I just refer them to the Wikipedia page. If their question isn't addressed there, I quickly add some sentences to the page. Whereas before, making that answer more widely known had to wait years, until the next review article was published in a journal.
Check out WikiJournal of Science to write a Wikipedia page as an expert and get it peer reviewed.
Why are articles about brain science always like this: "Brain scientists have finally unlocked the secret of compassion! It turns out to be located in area 23A of the left-centre lobe of the prefrontal cortex! This amazing knowledge means that you can actually rewire your brain to be more compassionate! For instance, by... well, uh... by thinking compassionate thoughts or doing compassionate actions!"
