@mawhrin @carnage4life

It does, but just as with immigration rules and counter-extremism rules, the laws were made in full knowledge of who they would be likely to be enforced on, and that knowledge is reflected in the final text.

Zuck is on Threads cooking Apple Vision Pro fanboys.
@carnage4life NYTimes is a news org, how would LLMs displace them? Is ChatGPT going to start interviewing people and do investigative journalism? They should just be licensing their content to OpenAI for something like $5mil/yr, win-win for both parties.

@carnage4life But LLMs require the output of programmers, so what does that world look like where people writing software are no longer programmers? Unless languages no longer evolve or we've already coded up everything we ever want to code up (both obviously false), how will that work?

For small personal projects (like your React example), this will be true (bye bye fiverr cheap labor), but wanna programmers will never be ones writing production code for big tech (not in our lifetime).

@carnage4life Even if that's true, I'm sure the statistics are very different per tiers of engineering quality. It's almost a certainty that bug rate increase with Copilot is way, way higher with low-quality software engineers (boot camp graduates) than with SDEs from top 25 schools.
@carnage4life Expectations are not high, at least not relative to stock price. How else would you justify a market cap that's more than the top 4 manufacturers in the world combined, but with 1/20 of the sales volume?
@carnage4life Good advice. What would be your top 3 questions to a hiring manager?
@carnage4life @daringfireball The sheer arrogance is proof that they're a monopoly. I don't know exactly how they should be regulated, but they are clearly abusing monopolistic power to hurt consumers. Shouldn't be hard to argue this in court.
@carnage4life this can't be real
@carnage4life Once again proving that very smart people can be utter dipshits outside of their area of expertise.
