Welp. I installed it. Seems someone at work messed up and I’m on the free plan, so I’m not going to bother going any further until they fix it.

The beer was nice. I decided not to go for whisky, because I’m told I have to be awake in the morning and take the sproglet to dance class. (I can work from dance class.)

I want to be clear that I don’t judge others for using LLMs. This is an increasingly classist world, and anyone regularly writing emails, documents, presentations, code, etc. is on the unfortunate side of that binary. If you want to generate that stuff, go ahead, I won’t judge you. There’s a good chance it doesn’t even matter, anyway.

But I will judge you if you try to push it on others in an attempt to justify your choice.

Some of you may be thinking, “you big baby, just try it and stop judging it beforehand.”

No. This is not the point. The point is that someone is making me try LLM-assisted programming. I would have tried it on my own if not for the incessant barrage of “you’ll be left behind!”

It is exactly the same as enforcing a text editor, or a web browser, or (at a team level) enforcing Jira, or MS Word, or whatever. Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me.

I am a professional software engineer of 20 years with an excellent reputation across Europe. It’s my reputation, and I decide what I do with it. No one else.

And Jira can get in the fucking sea too.

I gotta go for a dental check-up shortly, anyway.

I never thought I’d be happy about going to the dentist.
