Trying very hard to avoid computers, and failing miserably.

A 30-something British-born coconut Indian living in Zürich, Switzerland. I speak English, and enough Hochdeutsch to order a pizza.

Occasional, inadvertent arsehole. If observed, please call me out.

Fascists, racists, Zionists, TERFs, homophobes, and other bigots can fuck right off.

PM me for my Signal or Threema handle.

This colour-coding of an NPS survey, pushing you to vote more highly, is a great example of how when a metric becomes a target, it ceases to become a useful measure.
Very proud of @vaibhavsagar for nailing his first keynote at ZuriHac, on why people and companies stop using Haskell.

@jimmyhmiller @spiralganglion You asked, so: I listen to podcasts sped up because North Americans talk too slow. I play British podcasts at 1–1.2x. (And German podcasts at 0.8x or so because my German is shit.)

FoC is at 1.5x, but it is a compromise, because ideally Jimmy would be at 2x, Ivy at 1.5x, and Lu at 1.2x.

(Also, congratulations Ivy!)

Hmmm, is this book talking about how (little humans) develop control, or about (how little) humans develop control, over their impulses, emotions, and behaviours?

It’s explicitly the former, but I get the feeling it’s implicitly the latter!

I really hope the author did this on purpose.

This is an incredible interview with Joseph Weizenbaum, and I would like everyone to read it please. @meena https://cathode.church/@meena/116568192357693414
Very normal, no questions here.

Which one of you fuckers is trying to break into my DeviantArt account?

(I was not aware I had a DeviantArt account. Username [redacted] checks out though, it’s definitely mine.)

A good day.

I got my new stickers from @rradczewski!

If you want one, hunt me down.
