One of my greatest achievements in life has been adding a lyric so repeatedly that the ducks on the bus go quack quack quack that my wife instinctively sings it to our son too
Today in Wikipedia it occurred to me that the word “crimson” in English comes straight from Persian kermes and is cousins with the versions in the languages I know, the Turkish kirmizi and Armenian karmir. Don’t have much more to say than languages are neat and man Proto Indo European got around
Feel like I should be doing book reports whenever I emerge from a Wikipedia hole. Did you know that the fox sitcom married with children ended abruptly with no final episode or season and Ed O’Neill the lead actor found out it was cancelled after two fans told him how much they were sorry while he was on vacation back home in Youngstown Ohio, and after he bought their lunch?
Hey #bikedc, a little plug for my bike mechanic, Walker -
@littlerome - he's been my "It's okay, I know a guy" for some 5 years or so! First started working with him when we took my crash-damaged Raleigh and used the repair time to upgrade the hell out of it - a dynamo powered do-anything commuter, and he's been my make-my-e-bike-perfect engineer since I went electric. So attentive and in your corner even when you don't know what you want. Wouldn't take my gear to anyone else! #biketooter

Trying not to go full #bancars energy here but a quick one: renting an SUV in Arizona and it appears to have the same cargo space as our little hatchback back home, but it’s so much harder to load because of how high up it is, lol

Why did they discontinue the Honda fit it is the perfect car

Welp, signed back on to grab my list of follows and saw someone fighting with a “motorist rights” account and I believe as the kids say, yeeted myself right back out of there

Just deactivated my bird account after seeing further bluster from its clown king about the “woke mind virus” and some good thoughts from @wlknsn on how dumb it’s starting to feel over there. Pray that I stay strong in keeping it off.

I suspect this is going to be like how I killed my FB-with several trial deactivations with a never-mind return until one day I come back and don’t remember what role it served. Consider today day one with nicotine patches on my arm

Well done comrades 👏

Eli Lilly CEO says insulin tweet flap “probably” signals need to bring down cost

"We’re obviously not the only insulin company. But the tropes go on," he said.

@ryderdavid excited to see some #washingtonDC and #bikedc familiar faces really flowing in now over here! If you want a really helpful guide as you get settled in, this is thoughtfully written by a data scientist (@djnavarro) for a data scientist audience, but is a really thoughtful read on how things work, including the different practices you might see. Hope it is helpful! Feel free to skip past parts for data folks to get settled. https://blog.djnavarro.net/posts/2022-11-03_what-i-know-about-mastodon/
Everything I know about Mastodon – Notes from a data witch
