I'm not even through the first chapter and this book is fantastic! It's a really fun and interesting read, epsecially for the subject matter. "Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind", by Yuval Noah Harari.

Jeff Beck was one of the earliest guitarists I discovered as a kid going through my dad's records. An amazing music artist. Always loved "Blow by Blow" and it's a good way to start out the day.

Today at Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History, I discovered our very own local Mastodon.

So the power has been out since 12pm and looks to be out until maybe 2pm tomorrow. The fam is out and I have the place to myself. The dark silence is magical.
I am, however, equipped with the kids' camping lamps, a wood fire, a still-cold beer from the now-off fridge, and the latest from Jacobin.
Meanwhile, in Australia, voters are treated to BBQs at voting locations and get to attend on a weekend. There's stuff and ideas in the US that leaves me scratching my head in utter confusion.
