Well, Olivier wasn't tearing anyone down, because it's unlikely that the person who submitted the original Fess is on Fedi.

Thing is, most people are in denial about #Covid. It's no less frightening than it was in 2020, but people have decided to capitulate to it and just pretend it isn't there. Everywhere you look, people are rawdogging one another's air without masks, without ventilation, without distancing, and often without vaccines. Most people now think Covid is over or that it's become too mild to worry about. They don't even know that #LongCovid exists. I know this because I mask consistently, and people talk to me about it. They ask why I still mask when "we don't need to do that any more."

And anyone who's disabled or immunocompromised, or who just doesn't want to risk the brain damage, immune system damage and cardiovascular risks that come with every Covid infection, is simply left behind in a society that insists that you can beat a fatal disease by boldly abandoning all infection control.

So I maintain that it's helpful to challenge the prevailing myth. Even if people get angry when they're faced with the truth, they still need to hear it.
