Hah, just got an update. In part:
ยซ It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. You know what else was humbling? Sending out an email by mistake, full of out-of-context Sagan quotes being used as placeholder text (thank you, Sagan Ipsum).
We were testing out our email system and an email that was supposed to go to 10 people went to you and a couple hundred thousand friends. ยป
It's a huge bummer that the cameras were only rolling during the first 90 minutes, because the third set features a 30-minute Dark Star that I would *love* to see :(
TL;DR: If it's screening again on Saturday in your area, it's well worth a trip out -- and I'd actually suggest streaming this CCR at Albert Hall concert film/documentary as a double feature: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21053478/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2
Travelin' Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall: Directed by Bob Smeaton. With Jeff Bridges, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Stu Cook, Doug Clifford. Follow the legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival concert as well as unreleased material from the band.
Random thoughts on the #gratefuldead #meetUpAtTheMovies:
4-17-72 is undeniably a great show, with an especially good China>Rider & of course the live debut of He's Gone.
It's weird that whoever cut this movie together from the TV footage messed around with the order, mixing up 1st and 2nd set tunes in some order of their own devising.
The point in the set where the Bozo masks come out is amazing -- I've seen 1000s of photos of Phil looking happy, but *NEVER* happier than that moment :)
I do want to acknowledge that, along with accurate COVID information, the most valuable aspect of Twitter for me was the privilege of being able to hear the various first-hand perspectives of folk from communities I do not regularly engage otherwise. That has opened my ideas to occurrences and disagreements I am unlikely to have encountered in other media.
But that's on me to correct. I don't get to insist that Black twitter remain or even that I get to listen to the conversation!
