ENTP, if that means anything to you (but even if it doesn't)

Online Absentee Application

{{app.description}}

Hey! If you live in #Pennsylvania, the deadline to apply for an absentee or mail-in ballot for the #PrimaryElection is nigh – May 9th.

But. That ballot has to get TO you and back FROM you by May 16th. Do you trust Louis Conflict-of-Interest DeJoy to do all that promptly? (🎶You shouldn't ...🎶)

Go do it, y'all. Just takes a couple minutes. 😀

If you have family gatherings upcoming, don't forget to test for COVID. My sister was planning a brunch tomorrow, but two members of her household just tested positive.

If they hadn't tested, we might have exposed our mom and 97 year old grandma to a deadly virus.

Seriously. Don't chance it. Test.

10 Image #CaptionTips from a transcriptionist:

1. Any words are better than nothing.
2. You don't need to say it's "a picture of…" screen readers will already say it's an image.
3. Start with the framing or format (i.e. close up, landscape, meme, text).
4. Think about the reason you're posting the pic and describe that first, add background details if you have time.
5. Pretend you're talking to someone on the phone and want to tell them about this cool thing you're looking at.
6. Transcribe any and all text in the image, even if it's the only thing you do.
7. If you've described the image in your post, you don't need to copy and paste it again in the caption. But again, don't leave it blank, just put something like "as described."
8. You can add small subjective notes, but don't give too much interpretation of the image in your own opinion.
9. Caption jokes are fun, as long as they still describe the image objectively.
10. Use punctuation, and capitalize words properly. A lot of us have interacted with this tech when calling customer service or talking to Siri, so keep in mind that you're writing for a computer to read, and it needs all the help it can get.

this aged surprisingly well

I feel absolutely ridiculous for this, and I'm aware of what an ultra-first-world problem it is. But.

I'm sitting in my closet. I've finally sorted out all the clothes that I'm not going to fit back into soon. (Or, let's be real, ever.) I'm never going to have a workout job like waitressing and regularly be out dancing – which is how I still wore 'em when I was 30. 😬

It's mostly the jeans that make me sad and wistful. I _love_ some of these.

How silly.

This just hurts my soul. Microsoft basically hid a Black cemetery on land they got for free after tax breaks and then allowed for the desecration of the graves. The county and newspaper aren’t off the hook either. Same with the consultants and archeologists. https://www.propublica.org/article/how-authorities-erased-historic-black-cemetery-virginia
Developers Found Graves in the Virginia Woods. Authorities Then Helped Erase the Historic Black Cemetery.

The cemetery’s disappearance cleared the way for the expansion of a Microsoft data center, despite layers of federal and state regulations nominally intended to protect culturally significant sites.

Reminder: 13 states currently ban abortion at day one of conception meaning a woman’s uterus becomes property of the state at day one of pregnancy. These laws are the very definition of religious fascism.
