If you have family gatherings upcoming, don't forget to test for COVID. My sister was planning a brunch tomorrow, but two members of her household just tested positive.

If they hadn't tested, we might have exposed our mom and 97 year old grandma to a deadly virus.

Seriously. Don't chance it. Test.

@mrjohnmuller Just to add on, I would also encourage folks to stay home if they have any symptoms, even if they test negative.
@mrjohnmuller There’s still a good chance of being infected and contagious if you’re asymptomatic and you get only a single negative result on a rapid test. Much more reliable are two or even three tests a couple of days apart. Better still, if you’re visiting your 97-yr-old grandma, add masking and distancing to your plan.

Plus a healthy dose of ventilation. Invest in a CO2 monitor to check air quality is good. Anything below 700 furthest from open windows or doors shows good air exchange. Add some fans or HEPA air filtration for good measure. You need at least 6 Air Changes per Hour to reduce risk of transmission by asymptomatic person.

“8) Now that aerosol transmission of the coronavirus is established, we need to disperse aerosols quickly. Key is ventilation. 🇯🇵 knew it was airborne from the start. Here is how to ventilate your school classrooms if unable to open window. #COVIDisAirborne”

@mrjohnmuller , or just cancel gatherings. I used to have a Christmas evening party for my friends who couldn't visit their families, or needed a drink after a day with their families. 🙂 It hasn't happened since 2018 -- personal illness, then COVID -- and I was really looking forward to restarting it this year. But I cancelled it a week ago as I watched COVID surge yet again, because I couldn't ethically risk lives to have a party.
@isomeme @mrjohnmuller we are “self-quarantining” too. It’s harder this year than the past 2 as family / friends are SO judgmental. I hope they stay well. I know we will.

We're in the same boat, but we can't risk getting any of the three viruses going around right now.
@mrjohnmuller here for the Covid advice. Sticking around for the header image. Classic.
@Phokal haha, thanks! KQV FTW!
@mrjohnmuller I’ve got one thing to say to you: “bees”
@mrjohnmuller Yes! Test before you guest.
We’ve tested every day before going to events this Christmas. No surprise asymptomatic positives yet except for one person still positive after 10 days of isolation.
@mrjohnmuller Not challenging your advice at all - definitely need to play it safe, especially when seeing vulnerable people or have symptoms; however, you should consider that people can continue to test positive for weeks, even months after you have been had it (symptomatic or not).
@mrjohnmuller I don’t think I am wrong by saying quite often the two first tests come negatif#ve before a third one would be positive.
