My dad died in December 2023, and because of his homemade Will (that he essentially copied off the internet, thinking it was all fine & dandy) it's taken until this morning before probate was finally granted.
It's not how much or how little money you think is involved, but the constant stress, emails & letters to HMCTS Probate Service, and constant well-meaning but unhelpful questions of "is it done yet?" from other family members has been surprisingly draining.
A Will isn't expensive and there are even free Will-writing services for older people.
Make a New Year's Resolution to get it sorted asap, you'll be saving your loved ones a lot of stress and aggravation, I promise you.
