Creating a site specific Search box in a Write.Freely blog - possible, with DuckDuckGo

Please see my post at the Write.as Discourse forum for details -- I managed to create a custom search box for my Write.freely blog using DDG.

Cannot be done with Google's Custom Search as it requires JavaScript -- disabled on WF for security reasons.

BUT DDG can do, and it uses an iFrame. Tested and working.

Creating a site specific Search box in a Write.Freely blog - possible, with DuckDuckGo

Hello! I found out a way to create a Site specific search which can be used in our Write.freely blogs. (had posted a topic here a month ago, about using Google’s Custom Search Engine – which cannot work for us as it requires JavaScript, not supported in standard WF instances). DuckDuckGo has this - and it is all inside an iFrame block, which does work from a normal WF page. I have tested it and it’s even better than the Google one as we are not logging into their voracious indexing of everyone...

** On MarkDown Learning, Tutorial, and Editors **

@joaopinheiro And I came back, on a quiet moment to read your new blog page. Very nice - I really enjoyed it, and think it can be useful to other people as well.

Same as you, I first learned about MarkDown upon getting started with blogging - using the Write.Freely software, which is the free open source version of the Write.as blog.

This is just the Beginning of today's Blog post...

Attached: 1 image ## MarkText editor - nice free, open source tool ***New find, a lovely MarkDown text editor*** This morning I stumbled across [an interesting blog - The Plain Text Project](https://plaintextproject.online/index.html), and in it, a reference to [a good markdown text editor](https://plaintextproject.online/articles/2020/12/08/marktext.html). Have tried others before, and not for long; I am familiar with the MD tags, and work well with the [EditPad Lite text editor](https://www.editpadlite.com/convenience.html), or from inside the nice Dark Themed Write.freely blog editor, if I am composing a new blog page. ## The review is really well done, ...got my attention - and I made [a post on Twitter about it](https://twitter.com/design_RG/status/1339210481756741632) soon after. Painful, with Twitter's crippling small limit for posts, broken up in many parts, which makes it more difficult to create a coherent presentation. However - writing it was the push to [download and install MarkText](https://github.com/marktext/marktext/releases) - and to collate some of the thoughts in the Tweets into a longer, Fediverse intended post. This one, being written inside MarkText itself, my first trial. And it looks and feels wonderful already. See my [***Blog post for Today about it Here***](https://write.tedomum.net/rgx/marktext-editor-nice-free-open-source-tool). #FediReporter new Tools of the Trade report... @rgx unfortunately, i suffer this month to month which can make life really difficult. i want to start my career in various industries and it's really hard to do it when i have to constantly take breaks to "take care of it". and thank you! i've always liked flower names!

i'm really sorry to hear that. seasonal depression is awful but that's really good spring is coming! even more reasons to look forward to tomorrow!

Getting Good Penpals, a Slowly Users Guide

.
This has been posted and recognized as a valuable resource at Reddit for maybe almost two months now.

After sitting in my Blog editor for almost 30 days, I decided to publish it -- in Two pages, with a final Part 3 coming soon dealing with the loaded question of "Adding friends via Slowly IDs".

Hope you enjoy reading this, a more detailed, illustrated and carefully written version of my original Reddit forum post.

MarkDown Interactive Tutorial - in English too!

🇬🇧 MarkDown language is a simplified form of creating a variety of text styles. Bold, Italicized, Underline, Header (text) sizes, all in much shorter and easier commands than classic HTML Markup language.

Note the name, a play on the HTML variant.

The Interactive MarkDown tutorial is also available in ENGLISH for those who are more comfortable in that language.
