Found something remarkable (and also quite sad).

In 1997, Wired published "The Long Boom", a hyper-optimistic article about how we'd achieve Utopia by 2020.

The authors included notes on some "scenario spoilers"—negative events that might send is in a worse direction.

...and those spoilers turned out to be almost spookily accurate.

Question for #CommodoreAmiga gurus out there: I’m trying to get A-Max 2.5 working on my #AmigaCDTV but it will only do so with JP15 disabled. This also hides the extended ROM which means the SCSI card doesn’t work (floppy only).

Is there a way to extract the scsi.device from the extended ROM and use a manual mountlist for KS1.3 to get the SCSI port working again?

Ps pls boost! ✨

Most areas of human thought are wrong because they assume they're right. Science is mostly right because it assumes it is wrong.

Most ways of achieving things fail because they assume they'll work. Engineering mostly works because it assumes things will go wrong.

Why?
Droplet dogma is dead- the idea that most of the pathogens we deal with are spread via droplets has basically been proven to be a mistake that we desperately need to correct. There is no going back to the "normal" of before.

The 60-Year-Old Scientific Screwup That Helped Covid Kill

All pandemic long, scientists brawled over how the virus spreads. Droplets! No, aerosols! At the heart of the fight was a teensy error with huge consequences.

Seasonal reminder: Alcohol is a completely legal drug that destroys lives, relationships and families. Don't make it hard for people who are trying to stay sober to enjoy festivities and functions.

The cloud is just someone else's computer, power, cooling system, underwater sea cables, networking equipment, data center and the land it sits on, control plane with support for Terraform, insurance policies, roadmaps, and a whole lot of people to build, secure, monitor, and support all of the software that runs on top.
