@[email protected] We're optimized for success within our system. There are shortcuts that allow those tools to be more easily applied to creative problem-solving (TRIZ etc) but unfortunately, it's hard to do that here without it becoming detrimental. Don't turn nice round pegs into square ones.

Twitter>Why is China not creative?
This is more "Why does China often appear to not be creative in ways Western cultures recognize and value?"
I'd start here with this article I wrote way back for @[email protected]

Lu Ban’s Axe And Working With Your Chinese Suppliers
It is nearly impossible to build any kind of hardware these days without at some point in the process dealing with China — Chinese suppliers, and so by extension Chinese culture. Difficulties…
HackadayObviously, these aren't good-faith questions, it's conclusions from decades of Sinophobic propaganda. But that does not mean from the outside looking in, it can't look a bit like this sometimes- particularly if we don't try to show evidence to the contrary.
I'll give it a shot.

@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] Why is China not creative? NASA is planning a crewed mission to Mars. China is not planning to go to another planet to perform a mission but wants to beat the US on the same goal. If China were a person, it has one fucking personality.

TwitterWhen you can call something "Open" that deliberately excludes China and many other countries, the term ceases to have any meaning.
But if "Open" means "Not China" that solves a lot of Open Source compliance problems- since we are apparently the exception to "Open".

@[email protected] We can keep invoking "5000 years of history" but who for? Certainly not the people it is directed at for whom it is a meaningless thought-terminating cliché. Ideally, they would accept an argument that older means better but since they won't, why bother?

@[email protected] The problem is we can engage with the West using arguments accepted by Chinese- and most official outlets do this to appease their bosses who have no knowledge of Western rhetorical tradition. The problem with this is it's incredibly unpersuasive.

Appealing to Tradition Fallacy - Who Even Needs the New Stuff?
The Appeal to Age fallacy occurs when one argues that since something is old, it somehow enhances the value or truth of the proposition in question.
ThoughtCoAgain, if your preferred mode of interacting with women is patronizingly explaining the self-evident, make it count, because you're only going to get to do it once and no telling when I do a mass unblock again. Otherwise, ask yourself "Do I really think Naomi doesn't know this?"
