Swans are not ferrets. In particular contrast to a black swan, a red swan represents a known event that goes ignored due to collective denial. Press the red button by sending BTC to: 3BR2Aa79a6VyLjV53bB2Vf22hAdFNZ14q9

Boosts on here are what will make or break Mastodon. If people can find other interesting people and content, they will stay and the site will grow. If its too much of a chore, they won’t. Other sites reward lazier social media grazing, and they surface content designed to maximize engagement, which often = lies, hate, stuff that enrages rather than enlightens. Mastodon just surfaces what imembers boost.
The world can be cruel and cold, but at least I know that love is real enough to keep me warm at night.
My cousin took the Pfizer booster shot 3 days ago and now his house is filled with classified documents.
@angusm @pluralistic so in the physical world, fungi prevent the literal enshittification of everything. Where are the fungi of techno-finance?

I cannot believe what I'm about to say

North Dakota House Bill 1522

Has a clause that exists only because Jesse Singal's podcast decided to troll LibsOfTikTok and the dumbest cunts alive turned it into a conspiracy theory

@amcasari

Federated AI platforms need to be a thing for a non-oxymoronic OpenAI (products including perhaps better fediverse search/discovery services).

Human feedback and attention have to be concentrated to train models at scale, so we just have to give people the option to choose instances where they can contribute data in exchange for access to a collective model instead of paying OpenAI to underpay workers.

Downside is some people really need toxicity filtering, but that can be fixed with some degree of in-kind fungibility (ex: you can spend more time categorizing vehicles so you can skip offensive content, or volunteer to mod riskier content in exchange for needing to do it less often).

This is important because, as MLK taught us through his use of television and radio, visibility is key to the success of a movement. If you can render the movement invisible or less visible, you can render it ineffective.

And this is part of the problem with the fediverse: it is designed to limit visibility via virality through the decentralized nature of the platform. I'm saying "limit" and not "eliminate" for a reason.

@Lockdownyourlife I vaguely recall a Slate Star Codex post about how people will try out meditation for anxiety or whatever, and then their inner monologue goes away - apparently this constitutes accidental enlightenment

@makeitsnow in all fairness, I think he injects the blood like he's the God Emperor on the throne of skulls instead of drinking it

as always, #PalantirLied #VaccineRedliningIsGenocide (there will be a better indictment coming out soon)
