@daenney I don't do that for my email anymore (or anything else for that matter), so I wouldn't do it for mastodon either.
The local timeline might be a good reason to switch to a topical server such as hachyderm.
@fe80 Yes, spreading the load and accessing a local server make sense.
Most of my contacts seem to be on topical servers (such as hachyderm.io or fosstodon) and I wonder if there's specific features (there seems to be K8s emojis on hachyderm for ex).
I've been on mastodon.social for historical reasons.
What are reasons to choose another server (and which one)?
