Okay so once again Alaska leg will not pass a budget during regular session.

We the voters who care need to start requiring the candidates to affirm they will pass a budget during regular session. Right now we complain about it..but we don't make candidates promise to do it.
So let's fix that.
If we can elect a majority of senators and reps that will affirm as a campaign promise to pass a budget by end of session..then we can start getting budgets by end of session...and not before.

Okay I've been kicking this idea around for a little bit, but I'm finally going to do it. I'm going to try to do a virtual eBPF study group thing, basically, select an eBPF academic journal paper, read over it and then meet and discuss it with other people over video who have also read it. Anyone tentatively interested?

I fnally found the curling/ open source analogy that works!

Curling ice crews are analogous toopen source project maintainers.

but it definitely has some interesting impacts in how the state of Alaska manages forested land. A lot of land is just allowed to burn now in the summer (no human structures) But carbon offset leased land can't be allowed to burn..as they defeats the carbon offset lease agreement.
This is such a flip in how the Alaska leg thinks about wild land..instead of something to develop as a way to monetize...they now have a way to monetize conservation...and that is absolutely a game-changer in the politics of this state.
It also setups up the initial process for permitting CO2 sequestration wells in state.
Now this is _fascinating_ . Alaska leg may actual move forward with a carbon credit land-lease system to basically let global corps lease undeveloped forested land specifically to claim elsewhere for carbon offset needs. Basically tree conservatory leases with the intent to _not_ develop the land...revenue paid to the state.
