How About Some AI With Your Bluesky?

A tale of two social networks.

Last week some enterprising Mastodon account was discovered to be scraping posts to feed to an AI for the purpose of helping people navigate the Fediverse. The response was swift. The alarm went out. The account was widely blocked and shunned.

Yesterday to great fanfare #Bluesky announced, as a new corporate feature, all posts would be scraped and an AI would now help users navigate the ATmosphere.

When I wave thanks to another driver, I give them a Vulcan salute. Don't really care if they notice, or if they think I'm a sad nerd: I'm wishing them to "live long and prosper" so morally I'm doing a positive thing.

I'm not going to bother reading the news articles that expose Banksy's identity. If the world's pedophiles can be granted complete anonymity by every major government and courtroom, the least I can do is grant the same inside my own head to a guy who just wanted to make art people would love.

If I tell you that Mexican drug cartels are criminal organizations that illegally sell drugs and cause tens of thousands of deaths, you agree.

But if I tell you that the Sacklers criminally sold enough opioids that their actions killed *more US citizens than Mexican cartel wars killed Mexican citizens* you will have to run and fact check that, even though you know someone that dealt with opioid addiction.

Enough people overdosed that the *life expectancy of US citizens dropped*. No jail time!🤷🏿‍♂️
