The real threat of AI to education isn’t just that students cheat but instead that students never learn anything because they no longer have to think critically or understand topics to graduate with good grades.

This is a problem we’ll face in earnest as the freshmen who’ve used ChatGPT throughout college begin to graduate.

The intellectual regression we’ve seen in modern life will only accelerate.

OK, so here is purportedly ICE doing a raid ... and the news media quietly accepts, from "agents" who displayed no proof that they were actually Federal agents, much less their identity.

How can we know that these masked men (most of 'em are men) are actually who they claim to be?

ICE arrests several workers from South Park restaurant

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents made arrests Friday afternoon at Buona Forchetta, an Italian restaurant in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego.

Stephen Miller is a white nationalist. You can preface anything he says with that fact and it'll tell you exactly how much credence to give anything he says.

For example, "Stephen Miller is a white nationalist who says that left-wing terrorism is on the rise." Or, "Stephen Miller, a white nationalist, says that leftists are inciting violence against law enforcement." How about, "Stephen Miller, who is a white nationalist, can leap headlong up his own ass at the first opportunity and lay his toxic eggs in his own colon."

Ok, maybe that last one is just rank speculation, but you get the idea.

If you're out at a protest this summer, don't get caught up in this classic SPD dirty trick: The Bump-and-Bust.

Bike cops will push through crowds and arrest people they bump into. It happened three times in one day in 2020.

It is really amazing to me that most folks can't find space in their brains for two pretty obvious facts at the same time:

America has done a lot of shitty things.
American has done a lot less shitty things than other countries in its position, and has actually been generally slightly more good than bad.

We can and should always get better. That's why we've done slightly more good than bad, and been better for the world than not having us

But we actually fuck that up by saying we're all bad

A black mark on the US:

“The Federal Government Is Gone”: Under Trump, the Fight Against Extremist Violence Is Left Up to the States

As the White House redirects counterterrorism personnel and funds toward mass deportations, a state-level scramble is on to preserve efforts once supported by Washington. The result is a patchwork approach that leaves many areas uncovered.

@MarkHoltom Vote now! Justifications John for president!
@MarkHoltom Fuck Thatcher. Well, that's difficult. At least she's dead.
Yes, Margaret Thatcher is dead

Keeping track of when, exactly, The Right Honourable Baroness Margaret Hilda Thatcher will finally cop it.

@MarkHoltom you could always defecate on her tombstone but you might have tor take an appointment, the waiting time might take years @wackJackle

@MarkHoltom the conclusion may be correct - but the statement that the UKs oilfields were much larger is far from true.

@MarkHoltom Alberta pissed all of its away …………

@browngraham243 @MarkHoltom

Large trucks and fishing boats, second homes, and a cabin 3 provinces away don't pay for themselves. Until the next bust phase strikes, then they desperately sell it all.

@glutto @MarkHoltom Alberta motto; “Please Lord let there be another oil boom, next time I promise not to piss it all away”.
@MarkHoltom Canada had a boom at the same time as Norway but all the money went to desperately poor oil & gas companies who shared it to help the plight of their needy shareholders
@MarkHoltom The funny part about this is the implication that socialism is achievable with heavy fossil fuel extraction
@feelnotes @MarkHoltom I think the implication is that any resource, if managed correctly, can provide long term sustainability. Applies to both renewable and non-renewable resources. The sign is usually that there is a tangible asset providing ongoing benefit,not a depleted resource and/or associated liabilities.
@feelnotes @MarkHoltom
Well, the USSR worked by selling oil and gas, so...
@MarkHoltom and the English have never stopped thieving resources from Scotland and Wales.
@MarkHoltom And Thatcher fought Argentina over the Falklands for "strategic protection". Even though Argentina had every right to seize those islands.

I usually don't boost memes without link, but this striking statement is easily supported by a tiny bit of research.

»How Norway got rich from Oil, but the UK didn’t«

@oliver_schafeld

Yes, but in the UK, a very tiny number of people got a great deal of wealth the way the UK dealt with this, while the majority of citizens saw no benefit whatsoever.

Which was probably the goal in the first place
😂🤣😂🤣
