The sun sets on another #SilentSunday
How can we fight climate change? By destroying our forests, according to the Houston government. Recent provincial-level changes are increasing how much biomass Nova Scotia burns for energy production, which is a really strange move when you consider how expensive and inefficient this form of electricity generation is. And that’s not even mentioning the impact on our forests and biodiversity. #novascotia #biomass https://ecologyaction.ca/no-more-bs-biomass
Was pleased to wake up with 20.8mm in my gauge! Rain soon pulling out of CB; then clearing elsewhere. Notably cooler air; mostly teens this aftn & single digits tonight (frost NW NB).
Gradually warms up this week with no additional rain.
Next week looks more unsettled with higher rain chances.

‘Look at clear evidence’: Nova Scotia physicians’ group advocating for bike lanes, active transportation infrastructure

"If we invest in bike lanes, we will reduce our traffic congestion and improve everyone's health," said Dr. Catherine Cervin.

Short survey to tell the gov't of Canada to stop investing in fossil fuel and invest in education instead (English version linked): https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/programs/consultations/2025/pre-budget-consultations-2025.html

Thanks @researchfairy for sharing!

(Well, you can tell them whatever you want to in the survey, that's just my humble suggestion.)

Very hot weather pattern... lots of 30's (NE NB might hit 100F)!
Higher humidity increases chances of Fundy-Atlantic fog... and also increases the chances of late day showers/thunder Wednesday thru to Friday when a front brings in more comfortable air. No widespread rain in at least 10 days.
The smoky haze has returned this morning. Otherwise, no change in the forecast: warm and dry thru the weekend.
More humid next week which increases the chances of fog and late day thunderstorms. Cold front late next week lowers humidity along with better chance of rain. note that pics may not be loading on mstdn??
The animation of the forecast maps through the weekend keeps the moisture (green) away from the Maritimes. "Dexter" can be seen speeding by well south. Then on the weekend, a tropical system (Erin?) moves north but stalls before reaching the Maritimes.
The tropics are getting busier; watching!

It appears my bike commute has just been made illegal, with a fine of $25 000.

I would now have to risk my life on the roads of new minas just getting to work.

They really don't think of bike commuters at all here. Its not like I'm gonna throw a cigarette butt off my bike like people in cars do.

Pretty wild to put in such a broad law on such short notice with so many unanswered questions.
