It is never a bad time to stand against oppression. This is me with Dr Louis Reynolds (retired associated professor of paediatrics and long-time activist)

This is what the news algorithm on my phone feeds me as recommendations. I never read stories from these sites; MyBroadband and BusinessTech are owned by the same people, have terrible editorial standards and focus on "bad news stories" that reinforce talking points common in the South African white community. Yet, despite my total lack of interest, this is what the Google algorithm thinks I should read...
After more than 1800 days' practice, I've come to the end of the Duolingo French course. Honestly it was a bit of a surprise... I was racing to keep in the Diamond league and not checking my progress. I can read French quite competently but struggle with spoken French so... what next?? Perhaps I can connect with our local francophone (mostly Congolese) community.
I decided to try archery again today (after last doing it at university 30 years ago) - very satisfying!
I have a loan dog for a few days... what luck!
On my way back to Cape Town from Addis Ababa after a week of bioinformatics training in two languages that involved all the countries at the heart of the clade I Mpox outbreak & included me do a "bioinformatics dance" (video that will never be shown). Hadhreen (
https://hadhreen.org/english/) confirms that the Internet blackouts in
#Sudan are the work of both sides in the war (SAF and RSF):
https://twitter.com/Hadhreen_org/status/1761331784422129963 "Once again, we stress the importance of respecting the basic human rights of citizens and call on the international community to pressure the Sudanese army forces and Rapid Support Militia leadership to immediately restore communication services." As they point out, telecommunications services are vital to daily life.
