DiscordHello
#writers of the world! With
#NaNoWriMo approaching, I wanted to create a space for like-minded people to gather and share ideas, progress, encouragement, and accountability. I've created a Discord server for writers of any kind, be that novelists, poets, coders, content writers, etc. Anyone is welcome to join and hang out with us. We have text channels for casual and topic-based conversation, as well as voice channels for various topics including one for body-doubling. You're even welcome to join if you aren't a writer but enjoy reading/helping others with their projects. If this sounds like a place you might like to be, please join. :)

DiscordLooking for input from blind/VI people on remote work suggestions to make roughly $500-1000 extra a month, though anything helps. What have you found/heard to be a decent side gig?
Do any blind people cut their own hair? I have very long very thick hair and like to keep the ends neat by trimming it every several months, but I don’t want to have to pay for it or get help if I don’t have to. Any tips and tricks or suggestions? It bothers me to a crazy degree when the ends are uneven.
This morning, at age 26, after having spent far too much of my childhood hearing the song, I realized the lyrics in Nickelback's 'Rockstar' were
"And a big black jet with a bedroom in it,
As opposed to: "And a big black chair with a bedroom in it".
Yeah a lot of things make more sense now.
Still kinda want a chair with an extra-dimensional bedroom inside of it, though.
Spent last night in Vegas where we got to see the finalist round of an open mic event, several artists for whom my uncle was the drummer. The winner's prize was a paid Las Vegas residency, and one of the performer's he was with ended up winning!
Got the chance to see and meet so many incredibly talented people. Always so grateful to be around that kind of energy ❤️
It was our hope to have me participate as a performer, but our travel dates only lined up with the finals. Will for sure be back, though!
To the moms in name,
To the dads who've had to step up and also fill the role as Mom,
To the siblings who, by choice or circumstance, have had to be a parent,
To the people who have no children but who welcome all those in need of a good Mom hug, physically or emotionally,
To the friends who hold each other together in ways a mom should or could have done, but who didn't or can't,
To the people who have had to be their own parent,
Take a breath. You are so very loved. You are so very valued. Whether you are a mom in name or in practice, by choice or need, by accident or after years of trying, to yourself or others: thank you for being here. Thank you for doing what you do and being who you are.
Maybe you shouldn't have needed to be one, or maybe it's what you've always dreamt of. I am grateful for you. I hope you find time to rest, to breathe, and to be proud of yourself for all that you have done and overcome.
If people are going to bring babies on planes, they should count as a carry-on and be able to fit comfortably in the overhead bins.
