If you do it right, your science will be replicable: preregistration, adequate sample sizes, transparency. #openscience is just science done right:

RETRACTED ARTICLE: High replicability of newly discovered social-behavioural findings is achievable - Nature Human Behaviour

Four labs discovered and replicated 16 novel findings with practices such as preregistration, large sample sizes and replication fidelity. Their findings suggest that with best practices, high replicability is achievable.

@1in5project In her presidential address, the head of the British
Science Association Jane Francis indicated her support for the 1in5project initiative!

This initiative is trying to help get universities toward a target of one in five final year projects or dissertations taking on climate and bio-diversity issues - across all disciplines.

If your students are still finalising topics, or you want to join, see:

Jane Francis' Presidential Address: part two

President of the British Science Association 2023/2024, Professor Jane Francis gave her presidential address at a fireside chat at the British Science Festival in September. In part two she covers her time in Antarctica, seeing the impacts of climate change on the ice, and how more education is needed.

Congratulations on this fantastic and well-deserved award! 🎉 Our lab, BRAINS, specialises in cutting-edge behavioural research in neurotechnological systems. We're eager to explore potential collaborations. I would love to connect and discuss further!
For information about the new 5-year, 4-nation, ESRC-funded Leadership Hub in Behavioural Research led by me and Professor Linda Bauld please see https://www.civilserviceworld.com/professions/article/how-expanding-the-uks-behavioural-research-capacity-will-benefit-policymaking
How expanding the UK’s behavioural research capacity will benefit policymaking

Behavioural research is fragmented in the UK, but a leadership hub hopes to change this

"preregistration does not constitute reflexivity by itself" -- very interesting paper (link to follow). I am an advocate of preregistration as a signal of openness and transparency but I wholeheartedly agree - there is no 'objective' preregistration, and a registered and significant p-value does not "prove" that one's hypothesis is "true". It's worth emphasising over and over when teaching open science practice.
