@joecardillo @hankg @cfiesler It strikes me that the usernames that get populated in this field in the instance administrator configuration seem to be an important curatorial task in building things out.
@hankg @cfiesler Very much agree. Once more valuable communities are established and some medium sized instances gain new members migrating from birdsite, it will take the load off the big instance and start to help show folks that once they slow down, consider our conditioning, make some time to prune a followership, the re-decentralization into a network of networks isn’t exactly the dead-end as portrayed. Improved portability support across instances could also reduce barriers to entry.

Fascinating analysis from the Economist: “In the four days after Elon Musk took the keys to Twitter, Republican members of Congress collectively gained around 470,000 followers. The opposite was true for Democrats in both chambers. Their House and Senate representatives lost 420,000 followers.”

How will Elon Musk shape Twitter?

Data show the platform is already changing

I understand the urge to rebuild your network like you used to have it on Twitter using a tool. But it will never be the same, and that's ok. Let it be something new if you can.
@BrentToderian It seems Mastodon is very reliant on hashtags to make search work. But that means it is very encouraged to use them. As for finding followers, Trunk directory which lists people by topic as a starting point. https://communitywiki.org/trunk
Trunk for the Fediverse

@josh Fascinating. Of course, I hadn't really fully appreciated that element.
Learning (so far) that by #SelfHosting you lose:
• followership viewability
• a useful Local timeline
• your toots don't migrate
But you gain:
• a useful Federated timeline
• total control, independence
• fine-tuned instancing
Am I getting this right? #TwitterMigration

@paco Yep, definitely looking into mastodon.host
@nzlemming @CentralAndWesternGLAMProject @weka Hi, I don't run moa.party (tested it) but the list of maintainers is here https://moaparty.com/maintainers/. To turn it off, go to moa.party and login and make sure the right box is unchecked. Scroll to the bottom and Save.(edit: as an alternative you could scroll down and click Delete if you're done with it completely)
Maintainers

Maintainers are those who actively work on code, community, docs, or other aspects of [[Moa Party]].
