It is so cool!
I am by no means an expert in those things but I got a linux OS running on a new smartphone.
This is a Fairphone 6 running PostmarketOS with Phosh and I love it.
Thank you @postmarketOS @phosh for all the great work.

This post was sent from the fairphone with @Tuba 🥳
A really great software for the fediverse even on a small mobile screen.

@ente - when importing photos from iCloud Photo Library, does it preserve the caption metadata when backing up to Ente?

My testing so far doesn't seem to back that up, the caption data doesn't make it to Ente. Is it because Apple embeds that info to the image vs via EXIF?

@techtrest thanks for the long term review; certainly good points to consider.

@hjzl16 @ente Thanks for the feedback. I would be migrating away from iCloud Photos so similar to your situation. I also plan to use the hosted solution and run a backup sync via the ente CLI to my NAS for safe keeping.

Q - How do you handle the photos on your phone - do you leave like a months worth of photos (to make any changes in Photos or Darkroom) and then when the month is over (and the photos are sync'ed) then delete them from the phone?

Looking at @ente to replace my current cloud based photo storage solution. Love the fact its open source, E2EE, can self host, auto syncs from iOS and Android and does AI/ML for face recognition on-device.

Anyone have any experiences with Ente photos? Feel free to reply or DM. Thanks in advance.

I don't know if this will be useful to literally any other people, but:

If you're having trouble with audio sync from your Apple TV to an external soundbar or sound system:

Turn on Match Format and Match Dynamic Range in the Apple TV's video settings.

I don't know why this makes a difference on my LG C7 OLED, but it REALLY, REALLY does.
