French game dev, trying to make cool games before the end of the world.

My long run project is an Animal Crossing Wild World fan-game, but I also participate in game jams regularly.
Currently doing a anti-AI game on PS Vita, because why not?

The Nintendo DS was the best console ever, dual screen > one screen.

Millions of books were destroyed in the process of scanning them to feed “AI” databases. You have no idea how upset this makes me. I love books, they kept me company during my childhood/teen years while figuring out myself (although still am) https://arstechnica.com/ai/2025/06/anthropic-destroyed-millions-of-print-books-to-build-its-ai-models/

I'm at #GameCamp today in Lille, France if you are here too and want to playtest a #PSVita game!
It's sad that Godot 3 doesn't have the AudioStreamRandomizer, very useful to create audio variety on SFX, I have to do it by hand 😪

@djlink
Would be nice if all these scans were then used to preserve the books, digitally, maybe sending everything over to Internet Archive.
@Jayenkai @djlink
It's possible that these digital copies are preserved somewhere.
@djlink I hope these companies all burn to the ground in the foreseeable future. They show such disregard of human effort all the way down.
@djlink This is awful. It's just stealing, plain and simple.

@djlink I think this makes Anthropic's actions even worse:

> By contrast, the Google Books project largely used a patented non-destructive camera process to scan millions of books borrowed from libraries and later returned.

They hired the person who ran that program and then didn't take the nondestructive approach. I guess to avoid licensing the process from Google.
