Breakthrough battery lets physicists reverse entanglement—and rewrite quantum law

Scientists have finally uncovered a quantum counterpart to Carnot’s famed second law, showing that entanglement—once thought stubbornly irreversible—can be shuffled back and forth without loss if you plug in a clever “entanglement battery.”

Physics Lab: Energy Stored in a Charged Capacitor - Rhett Allain - Medium

We don’t normally use a capacitor to store energy like a battery, but it’s also sort of like a battery. So, here’s what we are going to do. First, I’m going to derive an expression for the energy…

The top quark isn’t a loner after all: “toponium” is real! The top quark is the most massive, shortest lived particle of all. But it isn't always a "bare quark" that just decays; the LHC just revealed that the bound state of "toponium" is real! bigthink.com/starts-with-... #physics #particle #top

The top quark isn't a loner after all: "toponium" is real!

Can the top quark, the short-lived particle of all, bind with anything else? Yes it can! New results at the LHC demonstrate toponium exists.

The 'sound of the Big Bang' hints that Earth may sit in a cosmic void 2 billion light-years wide - United Kingdom

Earth, its cosmic home the Milky Way, and even the very local region of universe around us could be situated within a void of low density compared to the rest

So I was watching Sean Carrol talk about scale in terms of energy in electron volts.. from a neutrino at possibly around 10^-3 ev to 10^37 ev.. the top of the Planck scale at around a freight train's energy.

So Im thinkin..well.. freight train isnt so much.. but then..thats
**for every particle** like.. a few drops of water has trillions..

In the song Slug, Brian Eno manages to exploit U2 to create a disorienting, exciting tune more worthy of the Talking Heads. The trick is to have Bono intone the same short descending melody over and over, with different lyrics, while the instruments in the background slowly expand and change.

It's important that the lyrics don't make too much sense, and while I said "the same short melody", it's crucially important that sometimes one note changes by one semitone, to create a sense of progression. Putting it all together, the effect is quite dreamlike.

It's structurally like a very different song U2 did....

At the @EPSHEP2025 #physics #conference, I gave a talk about behaviour of #feynmandiagram s at large loop order, and that at 18 loops we are still not observing the leading asymptotic growth rate. The slides and various data sets are available from my website as always. https://paulbalduf.com/research/vector-asymptotics/
