Today's historic photo of the day: broad gauge Redhen diesel railcar 403 on its way from Adelaide to Belair, calls at Keswick, SA, April 26 1986.
RedHen was the nickname used by railway employees and the general public alike to refer to the 300 and 400 class diesel hydraulic railcars that were the mainstay of Adelaide's suburban rail network from the 1950s until the 1990s. The 300 class were single ended, and the 400s were double-ended, meaning they could run as single car #trains as here.
