ME: And that bothered you.
PATIENT: No. But then she called me her “little sea turtle” because I was choking on plastic.
ME: (spits out coffee)

@fixatedpersonsunit nah, be blunter. And honestly, the problem is not really the low-level mil people.
Pine Gap gets closed.
As someone who has had to navigate this shit, the reason is quite simple:
If being strong or rugged or handsome or hard working or whatever is gender affirming for your masculinity you will do it regardless of external and social pressures to do so.
If what's actually gender affirming for you is the social game of masculinity which is explicitly a power game (masculinity as expressed by dominance displays of others and perceived superiority) ... that requires engagement and others to buy in.
The first can't die. It's something you do for yourself. The second? Doesn't function in a society that's less and less interested in playing that game.
So yeah. Anyone who sees masculinity as able to die?
whiny little Nazi boy waiting to happen
@aloz1 @jaseg they should have just used milliBels or more decimal places. millideci is just deranged.
The whole notion is deranged. You want to represent ratios from 1mW super-precisely with integers and won't use decimal places?
The whole point of the log/Bel scale is to cover massive dynamic range with just a few digits, so let's go and make those numbers 1000x larger because... why exactly?
Do you really need to say 30000mdBm (1W) vs 30001mdBm (1.00023W) !?
Blame game.
