After several months of back and forth, I got my university to install Linux on a PC.

They also installed CrowdStrike.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Anita Morris. Anita was a friend I've known for many years, and this is rather sudden. Anita was a creative and determined person with a core of strength I have always respected.

I gather the funeral will be on the 10th of February. There are more details on the W.D. Rose website.

@geekweevil About half the time when I get the train into the city I catch some illness.

@geekweevil Probably not a huge number of cycles to completely replace every molecule. Living things might last forever though.

I tried something like this for a while on Twitter. I still showed posts in chronological order, but only the latest from each person. This did still mean frequent posters were often at the top of the page.

The system I currently use on Mastodon is to systematically visit each friend's page, one at a time. It can take me a few months to do a cycle of visiting everyone, but I get there eventually.

Happy little accidents...
