I started to train a chin target with my dog. We are working on #husbandrytraining step by step.
I would like to teach my #reactivedog that visiting a vet or check out at home can be fun. ❤️
This move towards Mastodon is so exciting and unusual that I started a pop-up #newsletter about it. It’s called #HowToMastodon.
I will publish at least three issues this week in place of my usual newsletter, MidRange.
Check out the first one here: https://midrange.tedium.co/issues/mastodon-onboarding-tips/
This morning I read the sad story of a dog whose owners want to have him put down. 😓
He's 11 years old and the author of the post, the daughter of the owner, wrote that he's been snarling, hysterical, and has lunged at people several times.
It turned out that the people were just not respecting his space and that the dog was defending himself.
If I could have one wish, it would be that people would learn to read #doglanguage and respect animals as living beings - not as (dis)obedient toys.
Anyone out there experiencing, like I am currently, some issues with your local instance: hang in there.
This is almost entirely volunteer-run network. Your admins need coffee and hugs right now, as they deal with the influx of new people on here. Things will improve.
Good news is: it's not a centralized service, so it's not going to go down all at once. Like… some other services have in the past. 😉
Some instances might be slow or having hiccups, but fedi as a whole continues to fedi along.
I need to find my #mentalhealth peeps … if anyone has or finds a community please let me know!
I keep seeing people say Mastodon is nothing like Twitter. And they’re right.
Mastodon is an echo of the old internet, it’s decentralised, chaotic. What you get depends on your sysadmin. You can’t search, everything has to be shared to you by a human. Networks split apart and rejoin. What you see is your unique connection to it.
Is this good? Maybe. But for me that’s the internet I grew up with. No algorithms, no targeted adverts, just human interaction, and it was glorious.
