@june I think is a totally reasonable fear... especially seeing what ICE has done at immigration courts and in the streets. TSA has never been great, especially when it comes to profiling people of color or harassing trans people, but this definitely introduces the potential for way more escalation.

For now, I think the best we can do is face fear with preparedness. Be prepared for a variety of different situations if you're flying, and always make sure your community can figure where you are and what to do if something happens. If we fight this together, I still believe we can win  Stay safe y'all

Hey y'all, there was a 21-year-old protestor in SoCal who was blinded by ICE while at a protest. They shot him point blank right in the eye, and the shrapnel lodged in his head came within 7mm of a major artery, almost killing him.

Thought I'd post his GoFundMe here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-k-for-justice-and-healing

Fuck ICE.

Everyone should read through this thread from @nullagent. I've been following the atrocities that ICE has been committing in Minneapolis the last couple days, and this is the first thread where I've seen so much of the video/court/written evidence in one place. They also show court documents where this shit is happening in other cities like Chicago. I think this is especially important to keep informed about if you don't live in one of the cities being explicitly terrorized because a) ICE is everywhere and IS harassing and illegally detaining your neighbors, even if it's largely at the courthouse and b) this is going to spread everywhere.

We must protect our neighbors, we must document everything, we cannot let them win. Get plugged in to your local community - a good place to start if you aren't involved in things already is looking for a local immigration rapid response group, any immigrant advocacy groups, a mutual aid group (e.g. Food Not Bombs), or your local DSA chapter.

This is exactly what the brown shirts did in Nazi Germany. It is fascism.

@lindsey that sounds so awesome! were there any particular features of the conference or things done by the organizers/things you want to continue that made it a welcoming environment?
I'm happy to report that my internship was a success - I got to see Minion in person
@scott also what band was it ๐Ÿ‘€
@scott this is honestly so true - I know people that went on gender journeys thinking maybe they were trans/nonbinary and realizing later that nope! They are just gender nonconforming/were uncomfortable with being gay/etc. - but taking the time to explore their gender helped them understand and appreciate themselves much better in the end. Playing with gender can also be very fun :) (with the caveat being you need a safe environment and good people around in order to do that...)
@dan @ricci @rk @irene should I take this as inspiration and start printing out my code and giving it to you on paper?
