I saw a tweet that a troll/sock poppet used concepts/phrases on race that are done incorrectly

in order to invalidate a critique of someone faking their ethnicity

and it is the same language & methods of silencing that have been used against darker latines/poc on here (particularly me) that white latines and other white ppl have used against criticisms of racism

Where have we seen this before? Everywhere. It's exactly what white supremacy in Latine/Hispano discourse does.

white hispanics are the descendants of colonizers. there would be no white hispanics in the west without colonialism.

These two points the troll in the tweet says are things said right to me on fedi from white ppl, latine or not.

Troll behavior, funny that.

One, it knows enough of the lingo to be able to create a statement that places harm on the original author.

But it does so with terms/phrases that mean v different things to how it is using. The responding tweet says: "Did you just take a swipe at white Hispanics as somehow inauthentic or linked to colonialism?

How come you get to use the paper bag test and right-wing racists don't? If you have a purity test at all, you're as bad as them."

First tweet is from a journalist who has just published an oped on the ethnicity faking from Hilariosa Baldwin

Her tweet states: "The one where I share my opinion of the Hilaria Baldwin debacle and prove that being a theater kid with an accent at Yale wasn’t a walk in the park (things have changed, I hope)"

The response from what is either a bot or sock poppet acct, is interesting to me for several reasons
