Just added passkeys/webauthn to Palform, making it even easier to sign in and protect your account with industry-leading security. Nowhere else are your responses stored as safely as on palform.app.

I'm considering switching to a different captcha provider though — does anyone have good open source / privacy-friendly suggestions?

Palform verifies the identity of encryption keys provided by the server when your users submit form responses, preventing even relatively sophisticated server compromise attacks.

We're one of the most secure form builders out there, easily outperforming industry giants like Typeform. Plus, we're 100% open source!

While encryption provides a strong way to prevent data breaches and ensure zero-knowledge storage, a potential trust-related problem can occur.

Made a neat new design for choice inputs on Palform!

It's part of a massive design system I'm working on — you simply input your brand's colours, spacing, style, etc, and Palform automatically builds an aesthetically-pleasing design for your forms.

People want powerful branding customisation, but they don't want the pain that comes with it.

#opensource software like palform.app is finally taking on the big competitors and shifting the market.

Palform now supports templates! It's even easier to create new forms without the effort.

They're all hand-crafted (unlike some competitors) and carefully quality controlled. They'll even help you stay GDPR-compliant with built-in consent boxes!

Today, I added Google sign-in to palform.app.

Yes, Google's evil. And yes, Google Forms is our main competitor.

But Palform's aim is to bring secure, encrypted surveys to the masses. Not to keep it a niche service for security-conscious users.

A surprisingly large number of people hate creating new accounts on websites, and simply click away if they can't use OAuth. So I added it.

It's completely optional to use, and no additional data is sent to Google without your knowledge.

I believe in being clear about what Palform, my end-to-end encrypted form builder, can and can't guarantee security-wise.

I've put in tons of work to add security features, but there will always be limitations, and it's important for users to understand how it fits into their threat model.

I've written a summary here: https://docs.palform.app/blog/2024/09/08/security/

Encrypted surveys: Palform's security practices | Palform

Palform's aim is to do for forms what Proton, Tuta, and others did for emails: make them encrypted, privacy-respecting, and open. And most of all, to be so simple that anyone can use it, without an understanding of the technology.

Currently working on adding German translations to Palform! Only the end-user-facing form fill interface (not the admin bit) for now, but hopefully I can increase coverage over time.

Any other languages you want to see?

Google Forms makes GDPR compliance near impossible unless you're paying them for a subscription. For anyone still using it, it's time to switch to another tool.

Is Google Forms really GDPR-compliant? Probably not... | Palform

I'm Pal, the founder of Palform. It's a free Google Forms alternative that basically eliminates all of the pains and sorrows I'm about to detail in this post. And it doesn't cost anything. Enjoy the read :)

Hi Mastodon! I'm Pal, a passionate Rust/Go developer and open-source fan.

I've recently built an open-source, private, end-to-end encrypted form builder as an alternative to slightly creepier tools like Google Forms.

It's built in Rust and Svelte with lots of wasm for the encryption bits.

Check it out and let me know what you think: https://palform.app
