For the 1,000th time: "AI" does not have agency and cannot think and cannot act.

Chatbots cannot "evade safeguards" or "destroy things" or "ignore instructions".

They do literally only one thing and one thing only: string tokens together based on statistics of proximity of tokens in a data corpus.

If you attribute any deeper meaning to this, it's a sign of psychosis and you should absolutely never use chatbots, possibly you should even touch grass.

I got a little excited about package trait support in Xcode 26.4. So I did some experimenting and ... I think it's great!

Package Traits in Xcode

At long last, package traits are now supported in Xcode and I think it's a big deal.

The problem with Meta’s business model is that they’re beholden to shareholders, not their community. We are not publicly traded, we are publicly FUNDED.

I've been learning Swift lately, and I have to say I've *really* come to enjoy it. Sure, it has it's problems, but I feel like you always can find a solution to them, and I just really appreciate the sheer pragmatism.

Also: result builders are my favorite way to define UIs that I've ever used. It *actually* feels like a programming language that takes UI programming seriously and is willing to prioritize making UI programming ergonomic!

NGO Transport and Environment on the EU EV transition:

"Europe is performing better than we realise and if we accelerate the transition now we can catch China in the near future."

"71% EVs sold in the EU last year were European, driven by compliance with cars CO2 standards."

While China dominates battery tech, "Europe’s battery industry is also transforming." But this will require strong policy support.

Tomorrow, the European Parliament will vote on reducing tariffs on US goods as part of the EU–US trade deal agreed in August 2025. While this vote is limited in scope, it will in practice determine whether the broader trade deal moves forward. After careful consideration, the five Volt MEPs have decided to vote against this unbalanced deal. Here they explain why 👇

I was on the bus home just a while ago and a group of people a few rows in front of me were talking loudly about spiritual energies, ghosts, a "new world" (??) and I was reminded why I don't get out of the house that much
