The executive branch of the USA has been gradually usurping power from the legislative and judicial for at least the last 75 years, leading to where we are now, with more than 50% of federal power in the hands of the president.

As a thought experiment, if you were made benevolent dictator of the USA for the period of one year, with the power to reform the government as you saw fit, what would you do to undo this damage?

Almost all the fruit on my Elberta peach tree came ripe at the same time, and was in danger of being consumed by slugs, so we made a big harvest yesterday. I sliced and froze 20 pounds of peaches. Fourteen of those pounds are going to go into a 4-gallon batch of peach wine, which should be drinkable by next spring.

My China Pearl peaches are still a few days away from ripeness. The tree can't wait for me to harvest, because it is bowed down under the weight.

Only Congress has the power to declare war, but the Executive has usurped that power and taken charge of all wars since 1945. It has gotten away with it because those were all proxy wars.

I see that the USA is threatening to join (again, unconstitutionally) in the war against Iran. Can we get any stupider?
