OpenRTX

Free and Open Source Firmware for Digital Ham Radios

I guess my new rule is: if it's an STM32 or a clone, it must have @openrtx ported to it...

(Full disclosure: this is just an OLED driver and a bitmap. But one day, maybe... 👀)

OpenRTX now supports combined spectrum + waterfall on Talkpod A36Plus thanks to @k8tun! This feature will also be ported to our other targets.

OpenRTX Team Releases First Open Source Version for A36plus MAX

The renowned developer team, OpenRTX, has recently released the first open-source version for the Talkpod A36plus MAX. This marks a significant milestone for the A36plus MAX, a device equipped with 128K+2M of large memory. This substantial memory capacity not only supports basic functionalities but also provides develo

ESPRI is interesting.
And this might result in a proper K5 with ESP32 as the MCU.
So, so much more flash than in the original chip.
And there are now ESP32's with native USB too.

So that would allow us a rig with native USB, Native wifi and native Bluetooth.

The @openrtx and @m17_project folks also target that MCU in openrtx firmware and on both Module17 and Micro17, so M17 can also be done with that MCU.

I recently got a Ham Radio license for Germany (Klasse E) and hopped into the deep end by ordering a TYT UV380 which is already running @openrtx. What's left to do is the soldering to let the MCU on the radio receive voice from the mic and route a PWM output pin from the MCU to the baseband. To do this I disassembled the radio after work.
RRU <-> M17-M17 reflector connection. TX hardware was again an MD-380 running @openrtx

Thanks to our community, OpenRTX is coming to the Radtel RT-890! This is an incredibly affordable radio that is ready to be modded.
