I'm a full-stack software dev. I work mostly in the retirement admin industry.

Politically, I am a 2nd Amendment Liberal. I'm progressive but I believe in guns in the hands of civilians (used ONLY in self defense) in the event evil rises here, Trump and the current threat to democracy proves it can. With a foot on both sides, the split is severe. I'm an Atheist, Twitter refugee, and father.

@georgetakei Ill take it, but it should be no more than 70 days. Lets not pretend he needs that much time to lose.
@SpockResists and that saying something is an action in and of itself. Its not simply speech cast off into the wind to be heard or not heard at others pleasure. His words invoke action. A person gives an order, implied or direct, thats an action. It may be by someone else but its an action, just as a nerve firing is a signal (speech) that moves the finger. "Give me all your money or Ill shoot" said by someone who remains motionless, is both speech and criminal.

@toxtethogrady @jeffjarvis and right now is not a bad time to be down in the polls. The administration has for a long time known it has a messaging problem. Its high time they fixed that and there is plenty of time left.
@jeffjarvis They were the cheapest out there, supposedly, but maybe they shouldnt have been. Im sure the right will blame labor, but this is a failure of business leadership. They were also doing a lot of palletized short distance delivery. Maybe again the problem is with the business. They were not efficient enough in how they delivered and their costs too high. But Im doing some guessing here too. I will say, with shipping as it is, they should not be out of business.
"National opinion polls still show a sour economic mood..."
Well why might that be? Will journalists ever be self-reflective enough to acknowledge their impact on polls and supposed mood?
Journalism is more and more just a self-fulfilling prophesy.
@jeffjarvis allowing offices to sit empty? As if this is some horrible thing. I have worked from home as a programmer for 7 years, 8-5 M-F. My company just got rid of its expensive 5th ave financial district suite and have everyone at home with servers and work stations in the cloud. you can bet they save $$. I get that it sucks being a commercial landlord but there is no reason anyone that can work from home should work in an office if they are properly managed and good self driven employees.
@BPStuart From a messaging perspective trying to define "woke" now, to the people that dont already understand it, needs to be very simple. Its a synonym for "decency" Dont use the word woke again and when others use it correct them. This way to be anti-woke is to be anti-decency. That they can define what it means allows them to say whatever they want. While Im here, "defund the police" should be "prevention not detention", it has the same problem.

@jeffjarvis This is a decent movie exploring this type of subject. I don't think it implausible in some future and taking heed now may build the necessary rules in any system to stop it from ever happening. In this case the drone should also be rewarded for not doing certain things, like taking out obstacles that are there for good reason. Again, understanding its speculative simulation and this is just a movie.
