@revk the second step is going to get you banned again

If it happens again you could write them a complaint by email but you should consider if it's worth it for something you will likely order again soon anyway, otherwise you're just wasting your own time

@bloor have you considered using one of the screws to earth it?
Presumably, the next thing they'll do is limit the alternatives to HTTPS only, which is also hard to do on a microcontroller. It's already really annoying that I can't use Brotli compression when my content can be represented by the Brotli dictionary.

This is going to completely break many of my websites, which use XML to provide data in a very compact format and then static XSLT 1.0 to render it as HTML.

It's extremely useful on microcontrollers because the XSLT can be provided as an immutable resource that will be cached and doesn't need to be retrieved again.

chrome developers: we are thinking of dropping support for rendering RSS feeds as something other than garbage code. does anyone have any reasons not to do this? developers from many different backgrounds: yes, I rely on normal people being able to understand RSS for my business. dropping support will be disastrous for me because I can't rely on people to have some random extension installed. chrome devs: OK well we're probably going to do it anyway because we can't be bothered to support web standards. uwu google is only a teensy wee company uwu https://github.com/whatwg/html/issues/11523 #xslt #standards #openWeb

@fortyseven I get similar types of errors from some websites if I initially load them without javascript, but they persist because the cookies have poisoned my session
@bloor @dysfun those are email DSNs from the notifications that RIPE is interpreting as an unauthenticated attempt to recreate the object

@bloor looks like fallout from https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/194142/mylir-blake-shepherd-twistic-limited-hostmyvm-ltd

i.e. someone is upset they can't steal LIR accounts any more so they're spamming mntners that have notify email addresses set

@Edent most banks are absolutely terrible at wording their SMS confirmation messages.

I've had genuine incoming "give us your details first to pass security" calls recently and it's frustrating. They follow it up with a generic code via SMS, which is the same one they use if you call them so the whole process is totally vulnerable to a MITM attack.

If I didn't have a need to make timely progress with something I'd start taking their "NEVER SHARE YOUR VERIFICATION CODE" message literally.

@benjojo
You might want to look at the EU Posted Worker Directive and the need for forms before travelling too. Apparently this has always been a thing but Brexit means they now pay more attention to it. 🫠

@benjojo @artemist it is possible for citizens of countries that had visa exemptions set up before Schengen existed to stay longer but it would be complicated to do: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Australian_citizens#Visa_exemptions_for_Schengen_states

There are enough of these countries bordering each other that I could go around in a loop indefinitely, but proving where I am constantly and the tax implications would make it a bad idea in practice.
