This will not be the last time I write about Heart of the Machine, a very funny and excellent game

Our next game is Verminsteel!

You're a bird with a broadsword, kicking thousands of fascists so hard they fly into the sun

PLEASE go wishlist it, it'll make me really happy and help me stop low-key panicking and stuff: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4352280/Verminsteel/ #indiegame #indiedev #gamedev (boosts super appreciated)

Verminsteel on Steam

You're a bird with a broadsword, kicking thousands of fascists so hard they fly into the sun. Joined by a hoe-wielding badger, a mouse with a frying pan, and all the Molotovs you can chuck: You’ll resist occupation, defend the helpless, and push the Verminsteel back under the rock they crawled from.

@anacat I started with Mint (which has very friendly driver update tools), and switched to CachyOS because I felt like KDE was worth a little extra fiddling with command line stuff. I was expecting to spend the first month testing more options, but ended up pretty happy with both.
@sos I'm about a week away from starting this switch (just need a few last parts). Very interested in hearing about the experience.
@photex Cribbage is a good time, but it might be better as a follow up to some other set building/trick taking thing, since the scoring is more combinatoric, and works best with a dedicated board.
@eniko this makes me like "not grid aligned by default" even more if storage without shelving (or some other signifier of effort) looks less aligned. Aesthetic progression!

It's the Monday before Christmas! You weren't getting anything done today, it's a great time to play puzzle sweeper with all your coworkers 🎅🎄❄

@photex Yeah, trust (or just user inertia) is too valuable not to draw vultures, and "near the top of the roller coaster" is the best time to cash out.

I really like having access to ublock, and I assume it's either gone or close to it on chromium. But this whole conversation is my motivation for a token donation to servo.

@photex I've been happy with Librewolf, I think it's been a few years. I relaxed one or two settings (to retain more state across restarts I think?). I keep other browsers around out of habit, but I rarely use them.

The updater tool for windows is less slick than chrome, but it works well enough for me.

@mtothevizzah This is also frustrating to hear because they've been improving it meaningfully. I used to spend a day in bed after a booster, but the 2025 version one was milder than a flu shot, and they improved operational stuff like shelf life/refrigeration needs.
