@Voline Not a fix if I get only one bit of information: this might be a mangled dead body, or it might be a call to vote for candidate X, either way, WARNING WARNING.
@drvolts I think they were persuaded by Gavin Newsom's campaign against it, claiming it was an effort by Lyft to buy themselves subsidies.
@drvolts There are two audiences: the voters in Republican primaries, and the voters in the general election. The former still love Trump and may be persuaded by his usual ridicule campaign to reject DeSantis (lyin' Ted, low energy Jeb, little Marco) and the media will be delighted to cover all of that.
@quokka Yes, still waiting on the confirmation mail to set up an sfba.social account, then I'll follow the steps. Thanks.
I'm thinking of moving servers to sfba.social as I live in the SF Bay Area and more people close to where I live will be browsable via "local". Still need to learn the steps to do that.

@adamdavidson @joshtpm It seems excessive to mark every mention of politics with a content warning and I hope that won't be required. If the existing admins insist on that, maybe those of us who are refugees from the other site will just need to organize ourselves on servers that have the right policies; old-timers can have their politics free zone.

But perhaps something can be worked out.

@WalterShaub An additional possibility would be for journa.host, and perhaps others, to verify all of their members (and ask those who don't want to do verification to move to a different server), so your at-journa.host serves as verification.
@joshtpm Seems the migration has been uneven, doesn't look like the major Black Twitter folks I follow have moved, but I'm an old white guy so I'm not the best judge. There were some "let's stay here and fight it out" comments.
@emptywheel @joshtpm I'm just a nobody on social media, but for me, it's been a far more pleasant experience over here; pretty much an asshole free zone, and I don't have the Twitter algorithm decide that I want to see some rant by a wingnut. That might change. Because I'm following quite a few journalists, I expect that once their activity switches to mainly Mastodon, which will happen if Elon keeps making Twitter worse, I won't miss anything, they will boost the big stories.
