@finity@pkrugman Paul needs to go into profile and uncheck “ approve followers manually” if anyone can reach him. He’s complaining on Twitter about that @Gargron
@pkrugman Looking forward to reading your opinions on Mastodon. It bodes well that someone whose work I originally started using Twitter to read is willing to switch to a new platform 😄😄
@cgervasi@pkrugman I first came across @pkrugman when his NYT column used to be syndicated by The Hindu, a newspaper in India, back when I was at university. And then he won the Nobel Prize and I was like, wow!
@pkrugman It's working. Now follow people on here to make your Home feed work. There is no algorithm that makes it for you. You can use this Debirdify to help find the folks you follow on Twitter who have come over to Mastodon to help it feel familiar. https://pruvisto.org/debirdify/
Debirdify
This is a web app that helps you find out which of the people you follow on Twitter are on Mastodon/in the Fediverse already and follow all of them easily.
@pkrugman Everything will be slow until the system administrators can upgrade their hardware, or new users move to other servers. You could have IT help set up a server for you and other Nobelists, mastodon.nobelist!!
“Update: so far things not going well on Mastodon. After the initial post, nothing I try to post is showing up. And despite setting it *not* to send an email every time someone follows me, it's sending them. I hope these are just teething problems.”
@pkrugman Not sure if you’re using the app on your phone or a web browser, but the app seemingly isn’t working for a lot of people. I’m not having any issues on the web though. I was about to contact my server admin until I realized it was affecting others.
@pkrugman I see your posts. If you are using the web client I would enable "advanced web interface" as this will give you a page more like Tweetdeck which I find easier to read.
