Hey people of Mastodon!

I have just (finally) finished the second draft of my novel, and the daunting task of self-publishing it is looming ever closer.

I've never done it before. If anybody has any advice, or anything they wish they'd known before they did it, I'd love to hear it.

@nev They did kinda. The epics had a lot of mnemonic devices and they always hit the main beats of the story but the bards would liberally add their own material.

@c1t7 @ryusei Example. During the Persian Wars the Oracle said that Athens would be saved by 'wooden walls'. Some took it literally, but the favoured interpretation was that Athens needed to invest in a powerful navy, which was in fact what saved them as the Persian invasion was defeated in naval battle.
