This is Dame Kathleen Lonsdale, an important figure in history of establishing the science of crystallography. Lonsdale was born on 28 January 1903 in Newbridge, Ireland.

Her contemporary, the 1964 chemistry Nobel laureate Dorothy Hodgkin, said of her: ‘There is a sense in which she appeared to own the whole of crystallography in her time’.
