That a consultation on turning off some national AM transmitters only got four responses is revealing. And one of those was (paraphrased) - please turn them off, they're interfering with my DXing. 🗼
After just over 9 years, the Bristol Small Scale DAB *trial* equipment has come down. That trial paved the way for really innovative and contemporary approaches to digital broadcasting. (The Bristol SSDAB muxes run by @bristoldigitalradio and @severnsidedigitalradio are still on-air)

It's always gently reassuring when a very prominent national radio station goes silent, then the silence detector cuts in, and finally they get themselves sorted out and crash back On-air.
Two contrasting days. A day working at (peaceful, sunny) height on Tuesday, and today memchecking an unstable PC. Nothing if not variety. Around here.

Outsourcing computing to the cloud is a huge business, but some firms have said it's not for them.

@chrislowis the inevitable outcome of starshot success -> flotation -> demanding shareholders who 'just want results'. Consolidation, homogenisation, focus on process and profit not customers. This is where the economic theory of capitalism being 'self correcting' dies in the face of 30 years of profit grabbing evidence.
