So, the British summer has arrived, and we're all starting to sweat a bit.

🙄

After just over 9 years, the Bristol Small Scale DAB *trial* equipment has come down. That trial paved the way for really innovative and contemporary approaches to digital broadcasting. (The Bristol SSDAB muxes run by @bristoldigitalradio and @severnsidedigitalradio are still on-air)
Two contrasting days. A day working at (peaceful, sunny) height on Tuesday, and today memchecking an unstable PC. Nothing if not variety. Around here.
Today was a small celebration for the launch of the 50th Small Scale DAB multiplex, so we had cake and candles and alcohol-free prosecco in a cabin on a cold wet hill.
RTÉ discontinued DAB radio a few years ago. I know they had (have) budget pressures but I think they could also have been a bit more creative in finding a different way to stay on air. Anyway, this bookshop in Dublin obviously hadn't got the memo.
Lush evening wandering the city enjoying the #Bristol Light Festival. And a quick jar in the 'cat pub' when the rain had a go for a bit. Some of the light displays were truly mesmerising.
Every year this timely post from Witch With Words (on the bird site) makes me laugh unexpectedly heartily.
Yep, back at the Ehrpowt again. #ces2024

Caroline Aherne was an amazing comic writer and by all accounts a wonderful person. Can recommend watching this doc on her life and career

#Radio footnote: there's a clip of her (+ Craig Cash) on KFM 104.9 in Stockport in the early 90s. Apart from that fact that Manchester around then was a crucible for creativity, it shows the cascading impact of losing those quirky local shows on local radio stations. Would that be a podcast now? Would it be the same??

Caroline Aherne: Queen of Comedy

Film exploring the unique talent, life and body of work of Caroline Aherne.

In today's 'the UK is a totally normal country', I got 12 pieces of cardboard for a journey from Bristol to York and back. #trains
