Hey, folks. I hate doing this, but my family and I need help with money for food & gas. This is unfortunately going to be a regular request until I can get a new job. (See my pinned posts for my resume.)
We average about $35/day for food (2 adults, 2 kids) and $10/day for gas, if we are being cheap. Dog food is $22/week. So we need around $335-$340 to make it through the week, making sure everyone is fed and gets to school. Any help, however small, is deeply appreciated.

i don't like discussing the specifics of who my past clients have been in public. however, my most recent position was contracting with the kernel team of a major CDN and cloud services provider that i know many people on fedi are also current or former employees of, maintaining their internal linux distribution (an customized Ubuntu downstream) for their custom server platforms, porting forward and cleaning up patchsets to newer versions of the distribution, fixing issues in toolchains and libraries, etc.
i've also done embedded software work for a large variety of devices including medical, cellular technology, and industrial control equipment, in addition to some consumer products. i've done board bringup and BSP development with Yocto/Openembedded, Buildroot, FreeRTOS, etc, on most major SoC and microcontroller families. when doing business logic, I am most comfortable in C and Lua, but fine working with C++ codebases, and can learn to work with other languages if a project needs it.

I need employment, *urgently*. I am not picky. My family needs to eat, and that overrides everything else. Please, does anybody out there work at a company that has machine learning or Python programming positions? Would you be willing to recommend me? I've been doing all sorts of software plumbing for a decade now, I can speak C, Java, PHP, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, even a bit of Assembly for certain architectures in a pinch.
I might not be extremely specialized in any one area but you bet I can solve that one nagging problem you're not sure what specialist you need for. I've done frontend, backend, embedded, everything.
