I have applied for mathstodon membership

#behavioural time-scale #synaptic #plasticity was discovered by Bittner and Magee a few years ago: https://www.science.org/doi/full/10.1126/science.aan3846

It was mysterious - how could the time-window for plasticity be so large?

This new paper from the Losonczy lab suggests that it's due to intracellular calcium release from the ER:

Thrilled to announce that I have been awarded an ERC Starting Grant! This will enable us to develop AI-driven models of learning in cortex-wide networks! 🇪🇺 #ERCStG

European Research Council awards €636m in grants to emerging science talent across Europe

Four hundred eight researchers have won this year’s European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grants. The funding is worth in total €636 million and is part of the Horizon Europe programme.

Are there any good “Theory of life/living systems” courses out there?
What would you include? Don’t feel constrained by disciplinary traditions or conventions! Plus points for #julialang, of course.
I just noticed that the instance I'm on (mastodon.world) now has > 100,000 users. (mastodon.social seems to be even bigger with 246,000 active users). Mathstodon (to which I was considering moving bc of latex rendering) has only 4,400.
@neuralengine Mathstodon definitely recommended! Not just for rendering Latex.
Missing quote tweet functionality. Have to resort to doing this: look what functionality they have over on mathstodon. Here on mastodon.world we can’t render latex. Tempted to move to an instance that can.
Testing the LaTeX functionality. \(e^{2\pi i} = 1\) and \[ \hat f(\xi) = \int_{\bf R} f(x) e^{-2\pi i x \xi}\ dx.\]
